it takes longer to connect because the secure connection is not working at the moment, so the client first tries 2 secure servers, and after they fail, finally connects to the unsecure one.
This error already happened about 2 weeks ago and it got fixed quickly, so this will probably be resolved soon.

For permanent messages, I tried from the Windows client and from the website and everything worked fine. Do you get any errors?
