I think someone did mention this in another topic, but just in case here it is.
If you spam the space bar at the start of the challenge, you will always roll snake eyes aka 1 and 1.

Just to confirm, are you sure you weren't playing with a die 3 along with a die malus of 2 when the challenge started? In that case, rolling a 1 is the only option.
