I'm interested if people here play games like we have here with actual physical cards, dice, etc. It's something I get to do semi-frequently and found quite enjoyable. Who do you play them with and which games do you play?
I mostly play card games, tablić (a Serbian game very similar to scopa) is the one I have to put up with most often because that's the one game everybody is sure to know. Dominoes for the same reason. I tried teaching some games I know to other people with varying levels of success: ninety nine was pretty successful with 2 but broke down with more players (or at least me explaining it did), fives and threes was an utter flop, jin rummy was pretty successful, and I've still got lots to try haha. I'm not usually a fan of proprietary games with special decks (not least because it's hard to get accessible versions of them) but I'd love to get my hands on exploding kittens, six takes and don't llama eventually. That's still a long way off unless I pull out my braille typewriter and do some DIY accessability kits.
Would love to hear from you all of course.

2. StormProductions,
The only time I remember playing physical cards with friends is a year ago when I played uno in real life with some friends and I was the one to win actually lol.

3. Emerald,
I play uno with family. I have the uno flip and the regular set. I would also play chess with the wooden pieces and all. Just brought apples to apples but haven’t had the chance to use it yet as would need a larger group to test it out with but I recon it’s fun. Not a fan of connect4 in person as it’s kind of really uncomfortable to try feel all the textures and holes. Dominos is the by far the most accessible game as they naturally have raised dots for kids to play with so when I played this with a whole bunch of players didn’t feel left out or that feeling the game was adapted. Interesting topic. Curious also to know who still plays these games

5. supanut2000,
I think I played both Monopoly and Uno in real life; both times with sighted assistance. I do have the braille version of both Uno and Monopoly though; having bought them while studying for my masters in the US.

6. Athlon,
I ply scrabble with family. also i have played a lot of games with braille 52 card decks such as spades and go fish. My mom also had an accessible chessboard, so I took it to my school's chess club and played chess there. pretty neat!

14. kaiba,
When you think about it, the thing seems strange. I play a lot of games here. I learned dominoes, uno, poker, scopa and other games, but in real life, I did not play any of these games or anything else with family or relatives. The reasons are many, not having full access to some of these. Games, lack of awareness, or even making things too easy.

15. supanut2000,
I think the main problem with these card games and board games in real life is that not all of them would have accessible versions for blind players. Uno and Monopoly both have accessible version with braille, but I can't say for others.

16. Fawaz,
Many others are played with standard deck of cards which you can find brailled versions. additionally, for dominos, theoretically all of them accessible, it has these holes which you can count. The accessible version of dominos the dots are pointing outwards but I find it not really necessary in most cases. But probably nice to have. And yes there are accessible versions of connect 4, Backgammon, Yahtzee etc.

17. Emerald,
You can get games like Ludo/Frustration or whatever you call it accessibly naturally as you can feel the squares. They are often dented holes and the dice issue can be resolved with a standard set of raised dots or using your phone but the only issue is knowing the colours of your pieces. That’s why you could only play with a sighted player but the whole strategy would be yours if someone points out your pieces and you use your fingers to count each hole you feel from the point of your pieces. This is the only other game I can think of for now that is kind of accessible by default because its a kids game.

18. HeadphoneJack,
one reason I've really come to appreciate the standard deck of cards, dominoes, etc is that almost every game played with them is accessible if you make the equipment itself accessible. I also know that common board games like backgammon, chess, etc often have tactile / accessible versions although I heard once that they were harder to get today for some reason.
Modern board games are rarely accessible unfortunately without some setting up. I heard of 64oz games that basically sell stickers that you put on those games to make them accessible, but that approach only works for card games usually, lots more effort would have to be put into doing that for monopoly or settlers of catan.

19. supanut2000,
In the case of Monopoly, the only accessible version I found online was massive, making it hard to carry around. I almost have to leave it behind when returning to Thailand but luckily my parents found a carrier bag that will hold it and we just carry the whole thing on-board without issues.
